The Bollywood Azalea is a beautiful flowering shrub by Proven Winners ColorChoice. This plant has bright magenta flowers in the spring. But the most unique part of the plant is the variegated leaves, which are silver and dark green. This is a very hardy azalea can be grown in zones 6a to 9b and was developed by plantsman Mike Farrow of Maryland.

This shrub is great for butterfly gardens! We recommend planting this semi-evergreen azalea in mixed borders or accent plants in the landscape. You can also create a beautiful low growing border to a garden path.

Bollywood Azalea Care

When planting, choose a location with well drained soil. That is essential for a healthy plant. Loosen the roots before putting into the ground, and be sure to water frequently to help get the plant established. In southern states, you should choose a location with some shade. And in northern states, you may need to provide extra protection in the winter.

Fertilize in early spring using a specialized rhododendron fertilizer. Apply according to directions.

Pruning Bollywood Azalea is not necessary. But if you would like to prune, do so in early summer after the plant is finished flowering. You may trim off sick or dead branches all year as needed.

Bollywood Azalea Spacing

Plant these shrubs at least 18 inches apart, center on center. If you are creating a short garden path border, you can plant 16 inches apart, center on center for a unique flowering hedge.
