Orange is still a hot color in flowers and this coneflower adds fragrance to its allure. At 20 inches tall and wide, Orange You Awesome is a magnet for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. The flowers on this North America native perennial last a long time in the landscape or when snipped for indoor enjoyment. The flowers can be dried for everlasting arrangements, too.

Orange You Awesome is one of four colors in the Color Coded coneflower series. It is drought tolerant and deer resistant. Its size also makes it doable in a large container, where it can be filler or grown singly. Winged beauties will visit this plant if left upright in winter. The birds devour this perennial’s dark center cone in winter.

Grow in full sun (6+ hours a day) for the best flowers. Orange You Awesome is not picky about the soil. If the soil is too rich or if you use too much fertilizer, the plants may flop. It tolerates part sun (4 to 6 hours), but may bloom less, the flowers will be more tangerine and they may be smaller.

Although drought tolerant, most flowering plants do better when watered during hot, dry spells. Orange You Awesome can be tidied up by removing spent flowers, or allow them to remain to feed the birds. Cut back to the ground in early spring.
