This perennial produces dark rose flowers with a double row of petals beginning in late summer. The flowers rise above a small mound of green foliage. This plant is deer and rabbit resistant and a magnet for butterflies and other pollinators.

This plant spreads via creeping rhizomes. If a new plant appears in an unwanted location, it can be easily dug up and transplanted in the spring. Add mulch in the fall especially during the first couple of years to prevent frost heaving. Plant this perennial in sunny to partially sunny locations in USDA plant hardiness zones 4 to 8.
