This perennial produces alluring chocolate purple flowers on upright stems that extend above its blue-green foliage in late spring to early summer. No deadheading is necessary. The flowers produce attractive seed pods that will add interest to your garden in the fall.
This plant is more compact than some other varieties of false indigo making it a good choice for small urban gardens. This long-lived plant can be used as a specimen plant, in small groups or behind shorter plants in a perennial or mixed shrub border garden. This plant was bred by Hans Hansen.
