Sedum telephium Peach Pearls Stonecrop is a must-have succulent for your perennial garden! The flower clusters are composed of eye-catching, star-shaped blooms in late summer, held above fleshy, burgundy foliage. The deep-colored leaves contrast strikingly with colorful flowers in shades of pink, peach, orange, and yellow. Leaves take on apricot shades as they age through the season. Hardy to USDA zones 4-9, this little plant puts on a remarkable show for all four seasons, with dried flower heads persisting through winter.
At just 12-16 inches tall, Peach Pearls Stonecrop forms an upright mound with densely packed leaves and blossoms. Its pretty flowers are long lasting and attract masses of pollinators. Not only is it highly drought tolerant, but deer and rabbits will leave it alone as well! This low-maintenance plant is an excellent choice for rock gardens, and does well in containers and borders.
Peach Pearls Stonecrop Sedum Care
Plant Peach Pearls Stonecrop in full sun with well-drained soil. This perennial is extremely tolerant of a variety of soil conditions, thriving in soils that may otherwise be difficult to cultivate. Rocky, sandy, clay, and salty soils are all tolerable for Peach Pearls Stonecrop. It also is a good candidate for planting on slopes. Frequent watering is not required, as this succulent survives drought conditions with its fleshy leaves.
Deadheading is not required because this plant blooms once in late summer into fall. The flowers can be harvested as cut flowers. Attractive dried flowers will hold up nicely through winter, but can be removed if desired. Pinch back new growth in summer to achieve a shorter habit. For container-grown plants, additional winter care may be needed. Simply move the container to a sheltered location for the winter, and mulch the top of the soil heavily.
Peach Pearls Stonecrop Sedum Spacing
Plant Peach Pearls Stonecrop 22-26 inches apart. It may slowly spread to form a nice groundcover if given proper space. Place this plant in the front of garden beds to prevent shading and covering from larger plants.
