Perfecto Mundo® Double White Azaleas (Rhododendron hybrid) bloom in the spring with true white flowers that are double. After a rest, they begin reblooming in mid-summer and bloom until frost. The plants are also resistant to lace bugs. It was bred by Dr. Tom Ranney and his team at NCSU.

Native to Asia, Europe, and North America, the Perfecto Mundo® Double White Azalea is hardy to 6b. If used in zone 6b, the shrub should be planted in a sheltered place. This neat, mounded, semi-evergreen, shrub can be used as a border plant, edging, landscape, massed planting or specimen plant.

Perfecto Mundo® Double White Azalea Care

Perfecto Mundo® Double White Azaleas should be planted in full sun to part-sun. They should be fertilized when new growth is just starting in the spring and again after the spring bloom. Use a rose fertilizer. Perfecto Mundo® Double White Azaleas take an average amount of water. You will have to water them weekly during the first year as their roots are not established. This plant likes acidic soil and will not grow in alkaline soil.

Perfecto Mundo Azaleas bloom in the spring on old wood. Then the plant blooms in the summer & early fall on new wood. Do not prune until after the spring bloom stops. Cut off the old wood and the azaleas will branch out and flower more after they rest.

Perfecto Mundo® Double White Azaleas are stocky plants that grow 30-36 inches tall and 36-48 inches wide. To make sure they have enough room to spread out, space them 30-36 inches apart.
