The Rose Sensation False Hydrangea Vine by Proven Winners ColorChoice is not actually a true hydrangea. These are a species native to Asia and the Himalayas regions that have elegant and distinctive large deeper pink sepals in June and July. The flowers are very similar to lacecap hydrangeas. Another name for this plant is Japanese hydrangea vine.
The false hydrangea vine is a unique plant that is great in a woodland setting or grown up a East or North facing wall. The plant will produce more blooms if it gets some filtered sunlight though. These vines can grow up to 40 to 50 feet tall and 6 feet wide. However, you can train these to not grow that tall if you like. Be sure to prune in late winter if you do trim this back. These are winter hardy to zones 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b.
In warmer climates, this plant does better than the Flirty Girl False Hydrangea-Vine. However, the warmer the climate, the more shade the plant will need, especially in the afternoons.
