Southgate Radiance, Rhododendron ‘Tyler Morris’, are more heat tolerant than the more common Rhododendrons. Light purple blooms open from deep lavender buds in spring. Plant as an accent, an informal hedge, or in a mass planting. Works in large planters, too. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
Southgate Radiance Rhododendron Care
Water regularly to establish and regularly as needed. Plant in well-drained, organically rich soil. Mulch to maintain even moisture and to maintain even soil temperatures. Fertilize with an acid fertilizer in early spring. Protect from hot, afternoon sun and strong winds. Prune to shape and to remove spent blooms after flowering in late spring.
Southgate Radiance Rhododendron Spacing
Plant 6-7 feet apart in shrub borders and in mass plantings. For an informal hedge, space 4 ½-5 feet apart.
